Quick&Easy push-fit connectors: how to fit and release them

The filter is unpacked, the tube is ready – and then the question: do I need to screw, glue or crimp? None of that. Quick&Easy connectors work on a simple "push in and done" principle. To keep the joint tight for years, though, a few details matter.

Straight connector Quick&Easy

How a push-fit connector works

Each tube opening contains four small metal teeth and an internal seal. The teeth grip the tube, the seal keeps the joint watertight. On the outside you see a white ring for releasing and a blue locking clip that prevents accidental release. The connectors are rated for 2–45 °C and up to 15 bar.

Fitting in four steps

  1. Turn off the water and relieve the pressure, for example by opening a tap.
  2. Cut the tube straight with a tube cutter or sharp utility knife. The end must be round and clean.
  3. Remove the blue clip and push the tube firmly into the opening as far as it will go.
  4. Put the blue clip back between the ring and the body. Turn the water on slowly and check for drips.

Tip: before inserting, mark the insertion depth on the tube with a pen. Then you can see at a glance whether it is fully in.

Sealing threads properly

Many connectors have a thread on one side. If there is no O-ring, wrap 3–5 layers of PTFE tape onto the thread in the screwing direction. Then screw in hand-tight – do not force plastic threads. Connectors with a built-in thread seal need no tape.

Releasing the tube

  1. Turn off the water and relieve the pressure.
  2. Pull off the blue clip.
  3. Press the white ring evenly into the connector and hold it.
  4. Pull the tube out while holding the ring down.

Before you re-insert the tube, trim about 1 cm off the end: the teeth leave marks that can cause leaks later.

The most common mistakes

  • Pulling the tube without pressing the ring. The harder you pull, the tighter the teeth grip.
  • Pressing the ring at an angle. One side keeps gripping. Press the ring straight and evenly.
  • Forgetting the clip. The joint holds, but a knock against the ring can release it.
  • Using a scratched or kinked tube end. Better to cut a piece off.

In short: cut straight, push in all the way, clip on. To release: water off, clip off, press the ring evenly, pull the tube – and trim a short piece before re-inserting.
